Dell Technologies

CoC Intern Analyst

May - July 2020 • Round Rock, TX

What I liked

Dell technologies provided a seamless online interview experience. While many other businesses struggled to transition teams to a WFH model, Dell employees seemed to be more than ready. My internship was supposed to be online. However, due to COVID, my experience was completely remote. Dell did not underdeliver in areas of leadership and mentorship.

What I wish was different

Nothing. My experience with Dell was one of the most unique moments of my student life. Everyone was helpful and willing to network and mentor as well.

Advice

When I accepted the internship with Dell, I often thought that my participation was way under the value of what Dell produces. However, I would say to not hesitate for opportunities that come your way. Once you begin to network, you will realize that there were others in the spot you are finding yourself. There is nothing wrong with not knowing something. However, you must remain open to learning as there will always be something new to explore.

Marketing Intern

June - July 2020 • Hopkinton, MA

What I liked

The environment and culture at Dell technologies! I also loved meeting interns from all over the U.S.

What I wish was different

The experience was remote and I wish it could have been in person but Dell made sure everyone had a great time during their internship even if it was remote.

Advice

Networking made the internship even more fun because I was able to connect with the Dell team and full time workers even before my internship. I would recommend doing your research about the company before going into an interview and making sure that you share the same values as the company.

Indirect Technology and Software Procurement Intern

May - August 2019 • Austin, TX

What I liked

My internship was a lot of fun and I could tell that Dell puts a TON of energy into their internship program. I learned a lot about supply chain at Dell but also about their open culture. Every employee regardless of title was happy and interested in meeting with Interns. I also had an awesome manager that met with me weekly and ensured everyone on our team helped the interns and built relationships with us all. We also got to have brown bag lunches and round tables with senior executives like Jeff Clarke and Michael Dell himself.

What I wish was different

Overall I had no complaints about my internship, it was such a good experience.

Advice

I would tell students who are going into an internship is to be comfortable with ambiguity. The first few weeks at your internship or even your new job, it's okay if you don't completely understand what you are doing or how everything works because it does take time to adjust and you will eventually get the hang of it.

Inside Sales Intern

June - August 2019 • Round Rock, TX

What I liked

I loved the people and the environment! Dell has a very open and social office space which is really nice when you're an intern and are constantly looking for people to connect with. I also gained a lot of experience with Salesforce.

What I wish was different

They were very disorganized and I wish my internship had been a little more structured.

Advice

Just because your an intern doesn't mean companies will guide you through your whole experience! Sometimes you will need to do your own research to get the answers you want and take initiative to make your own connections within the company.

What I liked

The pay, housing, friendly people and atmosphere.

What I wish was different

More guidance, structure and a team that is not mostly remote.

Advice

For interns, keep the teams mostly in person. I was on a 15 person team and only two people were in person, one of which was hardly ever in the office. This was my first work experience and I was working alone 95% of the time.
