Intern, Research Team
Description: The South Carolina Policy Council (SCPC) is seeking a research intern to support our efforts to promote policies that make South Carolina a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Intern responsibilities may include drafting bill summaries for our website, attending legislative committee meetings, assisting with social media content, and collecting data for tax and budget projects. Specific duties will depend on the candidate’s writing skills and experience.
This internship pays $15 per hour. We ask that interns be available to work 10–15 hours per week and be present in our Columbia office at least one day per week. (We are flexible with days and hours to accommodate school schedules.)
Qualifications & necessary skills:
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Interest in public policy, state government, or economics
- Familiarity with Microsoft or Google programs
- Willing to learn
- Prior research, writing, or legislative experience is a plus, but not required
About us: The South Carolina Policy Council (www.scpolicycouncil.org) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank founded in 1986 on the principles of limited government, free enterprise, and individual liberty. Over the years, SCPC’s educational research has paved the way for major state government reforms, including the roll call voting requirement for state legislators.
