INTERNSHIP: 2019 Institutional Financial Services Intern

POSITION SUMMARY:
Institutional Financial Services Summer Interns will work on an exciting mix of strategically-aligned challenging assignments and projects in various areas that help drive the achievement of the organization’s strategy and mission. Managers and colleagues will work side by side with summer interns to ensure development and learning. Candidates can expect to gain an understanding of TIAA and the Financial Services industry and will be involved in creating resolutions for complex problems and/or transactions where business expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines or processes. Successful summer interns will have the opportunity to apply for a full time position in the highly competitive entry-level Institutional Financial Services Development Program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
As part of the IFS Summer Intern Program, participants will have the opportunity to experience ten weeks doing meaningful and strategic work as part of the IFS Organization. This includes:
  • Institutional Solutions & Relationships Business Unit
  • Client Services & Technology
  • Marketing
  • Institutional Investment and Endowment Services
  • Strategic Planning and Program Management Office
  • TIAA Institute
IFS Summer interns will also have unique networking opportunities with both senior leaders from IFS and from across TIAA as well as, ongoing personal and professional development opportunities to interact with interns from across TIAA.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills:
  • Currently in pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Marketing and/or Business Management
  • Graduating between December 2019 and June 2020
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (2+ years academic or work experience with PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Must be open to working on different teams within the IFS organization
Preferred Skills:
  • Extracurricular program participation preferred (in major-related areas)
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and conceptual skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • An interest in the Financial Services Industry
  • Comfortable interacting with senior leaders and colleagues of various levels
  • Facilitation, interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • This person should be a self-starter, easily adaptable, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
