Christian Daycare/Preschool Director

The Harvest Daycare and Preschool, located in Lexington, is looking for caring, compassionate Child Care Workers, who have experience caring for children ages six weeks to five years. We are committed to providing a loving Christian education, environment and top quality care for children who are enrolled in our program. Job Description:
Position Title : Daycare and Preschool Director
Reports to: Lead Pastor and executive Director Child Care Facilities Administrator
Denominations: Non-Denominational Contemporary Worship

Childcare facility size 175 children
DSS regulated - yes
Job Type: Full Time salary exempt

Purpose:
The Harvest Daycare and Preschool is a community outreach service of Harvest Church. It is wholly owned and governed under the direction of the church. The school is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality preschool and daycare services to all of the children of our local community. The school is a Christian preschool. As such, we teach basic Christian beliefs and values to the children who attend the school. These teachings are included in the total Abeka curriculum. Children of all faiths are welcome.

It is the philosophy of the preschool that the best way to have a quality program is to hire quality people. All teachers complete DSS required training as well as continuing education courses, have a loving concern for small children, and a gift to teach. All teachers have a commitment and desire to serve Christ.

Role and Function:
The director's function is to carry out the policies created in conjunction with Lead Pastor, Executive Director Child Care Facilities, Administrator and HR as well as carry out the day-to-day administration of the Daycare and Preschool.

The director is accountable for carrying out the responsibilities as outlined in the job description. this list is not inclusive of all tasks and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
Leader for Daycare / Preschool Climate
Spiritual Responsibilities:
Maintain close communications with staff
Model Christian behavior.

Responsibilities for Daycare / Preschool Environment:
Plan for equipping indoor and outdoor areas to reflect a Christian environment.
Plan for and aid in providing an environment appropriate for young children.
Maintain positive relationships among students, teachers, parents, congregation and community.
Provide referrals for Christian counseling for staff and preschool families when needed.

Director of the Preschool
Responsibilities to Oversee the Mission and Purpose of Preschool:
Recommend policies in accordance with the purpose of the daycare / preschool.


Staff Management
Plan for professional growth.
Keep abreast of research and new developments in field of early childhood education.
Create and Maintain a professional library.
Participate in professional organizations. Provide orientation for new staff members.
Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Conduct yearly evaluations for all lead teachers and assistant teachers
Work with HR to create accurate and up to date job descriptions for the recruitment of new teachers.
Work with HR to actively recruit and maintain robust employee candidate pool to help minimize open position time to fill.
Arrange for and direct in consultation with the HR interviews of potential staff members.

Additional Responsibilities
Assume teaching responsibilities as needed.
Maintain professional attire befitting a Christian school.
Meet with Executive Director Childcare Facilities on a regular basis.
Call Executive Director Childcare Facilities and Assistant Director as soon as possible when ill.
Attend all monthly staff meetings held on the second Tuesday of the month by Lead Pastor.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 5+ to 7 years of experience
  • Age Groups: Infant , Preschool , Toddler
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience as defined by DSS regulations
  • First Aid Training, CPR Training, Early Childhood Education (ECE), Early Child Development Coursework
  • ability to pass DSS central registry, national fingerprinting, fitness for duties physical, drug screen, and TB testing.

Applicant must be able to pass All SC DSS requirements for Active Childcare facility directors/operators
  • Experience directing a DSS licensed childcare facility
