VSGA - Internships in Golf Administration

The USGA P.J. Boatwright Jr. Internship provides an opportunity for experience in entry-level golf administration to qualified individuals. The VSGA will offer paid internships for 2019, with potential for 3-month summer internships and long-range internships lasting either 9 or 12 months. Each will have the opportunity to gain experience in the core functions of the VSGA. Internship start dates will be no later than the first week of June.

Responsibilities
Assist in tournament administration of VSGA events (including men’s, women’s, juniors, one-days, and USGA qualifiers)
Assist in tournament and event coverage (including writing, interviewing players, photography, and potential videography)
Assist with production and editing of Virginia Golfer magazine
Assist with handicap support and course ratings
Provide administrative support to the Membership/VIP and Accounting department
Assist with VIP Golf Card fulfillment including entering orders, preparing envelopes, and postage
Answer phones and transfer to appropriate staff member
Retrieve, open, and date stamp mail and deliver to appropriate staff member
Meet and greet customers in a professional, polite, and courteous manner
Other duties as assigned by staff

Requirements
Current college student or recent college graduate
Previous golf experience/knowledge desired
Strong verbal, written, and communication skills
Excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills
Ability to learn job-related computer programs
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver high-caliber customer service
Ability to multi-task and work on projects with minimal supervision
Ability and willingness to travel including overnight and some weekends
Must have housing accommodation in the Richmond area
