Program Coordinator - Recreation

General Position Overview:

Under general supervision, performs administrative work in assisting in the planning and directing of the City’s recreation activities. Reports to the Deputy Director - PRT.

Job Duties
Work includes organizing sports and athletic programs and ensuring the Newberry community’s needs are met in regard to recreation. Must be comfortable working in the outdoors and have a love for sports and recreation.

Some typical job duties will include: organizing leagues and try-outs, making schedules for volunteers, purchasing and maintaining sports equipment, assisting in scheduling practice times/games times, coordinating programs and advertising, and any other duties related to maintaining the Recreation programs. The Program Coordinator will occasionally supervise part-time and volunteer staff.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications and Experience:                   
·        Must be out-going, energetic, creative, and demonstrate a high level of customer service and detail orientation. 
·        Must be able to work a flexible schedule which will include days, evenings, and weekends.
·        Bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation management, business, hospitality management, or related field supplemented by (9) nine to (12) twelve months of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
·        Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally, work outside in the elements, operate various sporting equipment, as well as, general office equipment. All applicants must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license
