SAPE Peer Educator
About
Our peer educators are a diverse group of students selected to provide harm-reduction based education on alcohol, drugs, addiction and recovery to the USC community. They encourage healthy decisions, promote low-risk use and help reduce stigma.
Participation in SAPE Peer Educators counts towards Graduation with Leadership Distinction requirements.
Commitment
The estimated time commitment is 5 hours per week, including outreach events, meetings, and presentations. Initial and ongoing training is provided.
Requirements
Minimum 2.5 GPA, open-minded to different experiences and perceptions about substance use, involved on campus.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate workshops and presentations on substance misuse prevention and/or addiction recovery.
- Implement on-campus programming at outreach tabling and scheduled partner events (e.g. Hip Hop Wednesday, SCREENU tables).
- Participate in weekly meetings, trainings, and presentations to deepen your understanding of the content.
- Advocate for lower-risk decisions about alcohol and other substances.
- Help to create engaging and educational social media content.
