Administrative Coordinator I - SC Fire Academy

The Administrative Coordinator I position exists within the Division of Fire and Life Safety to serve the citizens of South Carolina by providing business and administrative support to the Accreditation and Curriculum sections of the SC Fire Academy through complex certification test process management, equivalency/reciprocity evaluation and student/instructor correspondence. Processes certification course packages as required by the academy's statewide certification testing schedule. This may include completing random skill selection and providing random skills in a timely manner to the Regional Coordinators, issuing test boxes, grading exams, preparing certificates, correspondence to students concerning IFSAC/Pro Board registries and assisting with customer service and required record keeping vital to maintaining accreditation. Manages the academy's written test banks for all certification courses using specialized LXR software. This includes multiple levels of certification. In addition, in support of the accreditation staff, analyzes student test results, computing instructional statistics, makes test item changes based on recommendations to add, change, or adapt items in order to maintain national certification compliance. This involves maintaining up-to-date hard copies in a secured environment with multiple test versions and answer keys for each certification course. Evaluates transcripts, certificates and other supporting documentation to determine reciprocity or equivalence for students. Updates student transcripts and issues reciprocity/equivalency letters. Validates need for remote testing requests, mails testing materials to proctor, receives returned testing materials, scores tests and appropriately destroys testing materials. Prints and mails certificate if student is successful. Communicates need for retest if student is unsuccessful. Performs all other duties as assigned in support of Agency / Division mission and objectives.
