The Columbia Chamber, the unified voice to our regional business community, is seeking an energetic and savvy part-time events intern that will assist the Director of Events with all aspects of event planning and production. Position will report to Director of Events but this is a well-rounded position where employee will be trained in other areas such as marketing, communications, research, etc… and at times will need to work with other departments on assigned tasks. Duties include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Assist in planning, organizing & executing Columbia Chamber programs and events
  • Occasional set up and teardown of events
  • Writing Content
  • Act as liaison to partners, sponsors and speakers as necessary
  • Research and compile data regarding events and best practices
  • Cover phones at the front desk occasionally
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Ability to update/understand excel budgets
  • Maintaining Inventory Lists and Digital Filing
  • Administrative duties as needed
 
Knowledge and Skills
Candidate should be capable of initiating and maintaining strong professional relationships. Knowledge of setup types, event etiquette and protocol is preferred. Prioritizing and making the best use of time will be expected in order to ensure the completion of the associated tasks. A high degree of organization and self-motivation is required, as well as exceptional written and oral communication skills. Additionally, the candidate must have proficient Microsoft Office skills. Graphic design skills are a plus. The Columbia Chamber prefers a responsible college student who is in good standing academically. All majors will be considered but marketing, hospitality, journalism, sports administration, and/or advertising preferred. Independent thinking and confidence are a must.
