Requirements:
  • Work in-person only
  • Provide one-on-one guidance and tutoring to our academically critical needs student-athletes.
  • Assist with study and organizational skills, time management and goal setting.
  • Work in one-on-one setting. 
  • Volunteer and Internships positions available on a limited basis
 
Qualifications
  • University of South Carolina graduate and doctoral students with specific expertise who are pursuing a degree in Education, Counseling, Sport Administration, Student Affairs, and School Psychology.
 
  • Undergraduate students who are rising juniors or seniors, with a minimum of one year of experience as a Dodie Academic Center (AEC) tutor, will also be considered.
 
  • Record of academic proficiency, strong communication skills, ability to work in fast-paced and a rapidly changing environment. 
 
Challenges:
  • Adapting to schedule changes due to student’s athletic travel and/or other mandatory requirements
  • Working with students who may have learning disabilities
  • Working with students from varying and diverse backgrounds
 
Work Schedule and Pay
  • Able to work a minimum of 5 hours per week. Graduate students must work a minimum of 10 hours per week as required by USC’s graduate program. Work schedule is flexible but hours are not guaranteed.
 
  • Position can be full time or part-time and year-round depending on the need. Full time positions are considered a maximum of 29 hours. Student applicants may not be able to work 29 hours if they are employed by another on campus department.
 
·        *** The University DOES allow students to have more than one job on campus. However, students who currently have a salaried position on campus Do Not qualify for this position. The University Does Not allow students to hold both a salaried and an hourly position on campus. ***
 
Pay, Effective July 1, 2023:
  • $11 undergraduate; $15 graduate students; $20 Doctoral degrees; and $20 certified teachers;
  • Students who qualify for work-study and international students are encouraged to apply
 
Operating hours:
  • Fall and Spring; Sunday, 5pm-10pm; Monday-Thursday, 8am-9pm and Friday, 9am-5pm. Closed on Saturday.
  • Summer; Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm; Closed Saturday and Sunday.
  • A majority of the appointments occur between 3 pm-10 pm except Friday.
