University Housing- IT Technical Assistant
Primary duties:
The primary duties of the University Housing Technology Services- Technical Assistant is to work alongside the professional technology services staff to maintain all technology for the University Housing department. In addition:
• Maintain and update computers across various University Housing offices on campus
• Troubleshoot and resolve client’s various computer related issues
• Install new hardware and software as needed
• Check in and out various IT equipment to Housing Staff
• Check in and out of temporary building access cards to Housing Staff
• Troubleshoot student and staff access control issues
• Update various software and hardware as needed
• Answer phones as needed
• Duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, office experience preferred, experience with data entry, and MS Office. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with periodic and cyclical critical deadlines; ability to work with multi-line phone system with voicemail and respond to callers effectively and in a timely manner.
The Technical Assistant must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, be able to interact with people from all sectors of the university and community, demonstrate competency with Windows operating systems with a focus on MS Office programs such as Word and Excel. Also, being organized, exercising close attention to detail, and being able to multitask are critical for success in this position. The Student Assistant must have a good driving record and attain approval to drive a university vehicle within the first 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Student majoring in Information Technology or Computer Science with at least 1 – 2 years’ experience but not required.
Hours: 20 hours per week during fall and spring semester, preferably 4 to 5 hours per day, M-F between 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Opportunity for increased hours may be available during peak times and student breaks.
Additional commitments: Applicant must be able to work during scheduled university student breaks. Applicant must apply through external platform in order to be considered for the position.
