Museum Shift Lead

Summary: The Museum Shift Lead assists the Museum Manager in providing visitors with an exceptional guest experience. This position supports the Guest Services team in the daily operations of the Museum. In the absence of the Museum Manager, this role will serve as the manager on duty.

Work Schedule and Conditions: Regular schedule of Thursday through Sunday. Schedules include evenings and holiday shifts. This position requires moving throughout the museum for extended periods of time. Occasionally employees will need to assist with lifting and carrying heavy materials.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supporting the daily operations of the museum, including admissions, gift shop, group visits, birthday parties, and facility rentals.
  • Representing EdVenture in a professional manner when responding to questions and concerns of visitors, staff, and volunteers.
  • Regularly managing productivity of the Curiosity Crew.
  • Leading the Museum’s opening and closing activities to include door management, cash handling, daily deposits, and submitting reports in accordance with Finance guidelines.
  • Monitoring safety, security and emergency policies and procedures ensuring documentation of all incidents.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the Museum.
  • Remaining knowledgeable about operational procedures, museum policies and general museum information.
  • Assisting with the training of the Curiosity Crew in the roles of re-set, guide, facilitator, and welcome desk.
  • Performing other duties as assigned in support of the museum activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must enjoy working with children and families.
  • Keen listener with ability to address guest concerns and de-escalate issues.
  • Must have a commitment to diversity and work as a team player.
  • Exhibit a positive and friendly demeanor and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Two years of experience in guest services, education, or museum operations.
  • Management experience in a team-oriented workplace preferred.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • High School diploma, required.
