The Judicial Secretary position is a critical position in the operation of the Recorder’s Court.   The Judicial Secretary serves as a Judge's assistant.  This position performs administrative duties for the Judge during court sessions, arraignment and bond hearings, warrant signing, and receives and prioritizes messages.

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Performs administrative duties for the Judges during court sessions: schedules and coordinates courtroom use; arraignment and bond hearings, warrant signings, and meetings; receives and prioritizes messages; and receives facsimiles.
  • Assists judges with scheduling and attending required continuing legal education training. Renews memberships and subscriptions for the judges.
  • Drafts and types correspondence for the judges; responds to routine correspondence.
  • Pulls case files and researches information for use by judges.
  • Assists judges and other customers during regularly scheduled warrant signings.
  • Serves as liaison between judges and the general public.
  • Schedules conferences, meetings, and trips; makes travel arrangements and coordinates meeting facilities.
  • Provides information and assistance to attorneys, law enforcement personnel, court officers, and the general public in person, by telephone, by facsimile, and by e-mail.
  • Maintains office supply and forms inventory; orders and distributes supplies.
  • Attends training conferences, seminars, and workshops for professional development.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding case information, hearings, fines, and fees as well as other court matters; assigns numbers to search warrants and enters them into computer; and acts as a backup staff member in batching traffic citations filed with the court, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED, with two (2) years of experience in office administration and/or office management or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Work Location: 133 Montgomery St   Work Hours: 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday 

Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post-offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
