Position: Two paid internships/on-campus jobs that start May 1 with the potential of extending beyond the 2024-25 academic year. Up to 20 hours a week.

Units: USC Office of Communications and Marketing and Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support

Supervisors: Page Ivey (communications) and Maegan Gudridge (student affairs)

We are looking for two outstanding undergraduate students to serve as editors for the university’s weekly email newsletter for undergraduate students. 

Responsibilities: The editors are responsible for compiling, editing and writing a weekly publication as well as tracking analytics to determine what content students want.

The Communications intern/student assistant will also be responsible for managing input from a variety of offices for student announcements on the sc.edu website. There also are opportunities to contribute stories to the university website as well as a variety of university publications, including the alumni magazine Carolinian.

The Student Affairs intern/student assistant also will coordinate the division employee news email and web posts. The intern also suggests story ideas, researches and writes profiles, features and other content for Essay magazine.

Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including good knowledge of AP style and basic photography and Photoshop skills. Initiative, self-motivation and ability to work independently. Maturity, sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality. Interns will be expected to brainstorm story ideas and complete stories in a timely, deadline-based work environment with minimal supervision.
