Summer 2024 - Part-time Nonprofit Development Assistant

Historic Columbia (HC) is a local non-profit organization that shares stories of Columbia and Richland County’s rich and complex history through our 5 historic house museums, engaging community programs, and local preservation advocacy.  We are seeking a part-time Development Assistant for the summer who will help process memberships and donor contributions, respond to member inquiries, and provide general administrative support as needed. This is a great opportunity to learn the nuts and bolts of non-profit development work. Training will be provided.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong administrative support and communication skills with a customer-service orientation.
  • Fast learner, able to be productive following initial training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and mail merge functions, advanced knowledge of Excel is a plus.
  • Some experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and/or high aptitude to quickly learn and master data entry processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work in Blackbaud Altru, HC's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, to process memberships, donations, and acknowledgment letters.
  • Assist in the preparation and mailing of member and donor correspondence.
  • Generate membership and donor reports.
  • Respond to member inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to Historic Columbia’s Ethics and Human Resources policies.

Details: 

  • 15-20 hours/week
  • mid-May through early August with possibility of continuing into fall semester
  • $20/hour
  • On-site downtown Columbia, SC
